Matt "The Mangler" Bessette (24-10) has been a mainstay in New England MMA for 14 years, and although he's accomplished some serious shit in his career (UFC and Bellator vet), his upcoming fight against Ryan Dela Cruz (12-7) at CES 64 may be the biggest fight of his career. That says a lot coming from a guy who's fought on the biggest stages of the sport. Bessette, who is the former featherweight belt holder for CES, was scheduled to take on his arch nemesis, Bruce Boyington, in a lightweight championship bout, but was scrapped when the Connecticut athletic commission wouldn't license Boyington after he contracted covid and had complications. CES was able to fill Boyington's slot with Hawaiian Ryan Dela Cruz in what will still be billed as a championship bout. The always entertaining Bessette didn't mince words in his interview with us.
