Breaking News - Over 15 months removed from capturing the CES MMA Flyweight Championship with a Split-Decision victory over Johnny “Mr. Nice Guy” Lopez (12-5) at CES 60 in January of 2020; Hummelstown, Pennsylvania’s Blaine “The Shuttdown” Shutt (8-4) has been eager to get back inside the cage and show why he is one of the East Coast’s top Flyweight prospects. After his April 2020 CES Flyweight Title defense against Richie Santiago (8-3) was scrapped due to Covid, Shutt signed with Full Contact Management and the team made a push to get Shutt back in action. A push that ended up landing the 28 year old Shutt the biggest fight of his career, as the former Art of War Flyweight Champion; Shutt will bump up to 135 pounds for an opportunity to match wits with former UFC Bantamweight Erik “Goyito” Perez (19-8, 0-2 Bellator MMA) on an absolutely stacked Bellator 258 card that comes your way May 7th, live from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Shutt will be replacing Perez's original opponent; SBG Ireland's Brian Moore (13-7) who was forced to withdraw from their scheduled contest last week after testing positive for Covid.
On paper this has to be one of the biggest Bellator fight cards in recent memory, the Main Event; Bellator World Bantamweight Champion Juan “Spaniard” Archuleta (25-2) defends his Bantamweight crown for the first time against Former UFC Flyweight, Challenger; Sergio “The Phenom” Pettis (20-5). In the Co-Main event Anthony “Rumble” Johnson (22-6) makes his return to MMA and welcomes the promotional debut of former UFC star; Yoel Romero (13-5) as former UFC stars meet in the opening round of the Bellator Light-Heavyweight Grand Prix tournament. Also, 155 pound Pitbull brother; Patricky Pitbull (23-9) takes on Ireland’s Peter Queally (12-5-1) and Michael “Venom” Page (18-1) meets Derek “Barbaric” Anderson (17-3) at Welterweight.
Bellator 258 will undoubtedly have the attention of combat sports enthusiasts Worldwide with its lineup of today’s stars and tomorrow’s most promising prospects, which will now include the addition of New England’s Top Ranked Flyweight; Blaine Shutt as he looks to seize his opportunity with one of the top promotions in the world against a World-class opponent in Erik Perez on May 7th. This could be just what the doctor ordered for a hungry Blaine Shutt as he looks to make up for lost time by jumping into a huge spot, with a chance to prove why he belongs amongst the World’s elite at both 135 and 125 pounds.
