It was just announced on Ashiek Ajim's Instagram page that he will be competing for the CES bantamweight title on March 4th at CES 66 in Rhode Island.
Jay Perrin (10-4), the #1 ranked bantamweight in New England, captured CES gold at CES 64 back in September when he defeated Josh Smith via rear naked choke in the 2nd round. "The Joker" is 7-1 in his last 8 fights, with that one loss being a controversial split decision loss on the Contenders Series. Now living out in Las Vegas and training at renowned gym, Syndicate MMA, Perrin has been itching to get back in the cage and defend the CES belt. With another win or two on the regional scene, Perrin is almost assured a call from the UFC to showcase is skills under the brightest lights in the sport.
Ashiek Ajim (5-1) is no stranger to the CES cage either. Ajim has made all of his professional appearances under the CES banner, with his only loss coming against current UFC bantamweight, and New England legend, Kris Moutinho (9-5). Ajim has looked impressive in his most recent bouts, showing a high-level striking pedigree, a granite chin, and heart and cardio that can last for days!
Ajim was recently ranked as the 5th best bantamweight in New England, while Perrin still retains the top spot. This is a banger of a championship bout that pits 2 of the best 135ers in New England against each other. Will "The Joker" take one step closer to locking up that UFC contract, or will Long Island's Ajim travel north and spoil the party?
