Travis Lizotte "Full Contact Writer"
With just 8 months of MMA training under his belt, Nostos MMA's David Burke (3-0) has accomplished more than most amateurs hope to achieve throughout their entire careers. Burke made his Amateur MMA debut just this May at NEF 47: The Battle of L/A by dispatching David McCarty (1-2) just 19 seconds into their Middleweight bout with Punches. Two and a half months later, at NEF 48: Heatwave, Burke took a career long 2:47 to escort Ryan Fredette (0-1) to the "Shadow Realm" with right hands. And all of a sudden people were beginning to talk about the Anthony "Lionheart" Smith look alike, coming out of Nostos MMA.
Well the hype around David Burke definately traveled well, as the biggest opportunity of his young career would present itself just ten days ago at Cage Titans 55, in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Burke was called upon by Cage Titans President; Michael Polvere, to be the first to challenge newly crowned Amateur Middleweight Champion; Jideofor Ojukwu (4-2) for his Cage Titans Middleweight strap. The rest, as they say, is history. Burke showed up to Cage Titans 55 the very same way he entered the New England MMA world, needing just 21 seconds to seperate Ojukwu from conciousness and bring the belt back to New Hampshire.
Myself and the Combat Cowboy headed to Somersworth, New Hampshire this Labor Day Weekend, to meet up with David Burke, who was nice enough to take some time following his Sunday Kid's class and before he kicked off his Holiday weekend shinanigans to talk with me about his budding career, his plans for the future and his home at Nostos MMA.
